(All events subject to change)
The pre-meet part of AvatarMeet 2013 is taking part in Washington D.C. This is a very informal part of the event and people to explore as they wish. However, to give a bit of structure for those would like to do things together the following is suggested as a way of easing ourselves into Pandora!
There are no planned evening events, but there are many sights and sounds of DC worth exploring: White house, Lincoln Memorial, Pointy thing (Washington Monument), Capitol Hill etc. More information at http://washington.org
Meals can be wherever you want to eat, there will be no large clan meals. If large groups do form then restaurants will need to be contacted prior to landing on their doorstep, but that can be sorted on the day. Some dining options are online here: http://washington.org/find-dc-listings/restaurants
The pre-meet schedule is very loose and you don't have to join in, you can do what you want, but this is a plan for people to hag their hats on if they want to do things together.

Group tour of Luray Caverns
(Friday July 26, 11:00 AM - Luray Caverns)
The Luray Caverns are a local attraction featuring a 1 hour tour along well lit paved walkways through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10 stories high. There are enormous chambers that are filled with towering columns, shimmering draperies and crystal-clear pools. In this subterranean wonderland, you may be able to hear rocks sing as you experience the haunting sounds of the world's largest musical instrument, The Great Stalacpipe Organ. Completely unique are the beautiful tones created by this one-of-a-kind instrument, which makes music of concert quality from the surrounding stalactite formations covering more than three acres.Despite the warm summer weather outside, due to being located underground that the temperature inside the caverns is uniformly 54°F (12°C) and therefore be sure to dress accordingly.
We have a group rate of $15.50 admission per person, assuming there are at least 20 of us going. If there are less than 20 of us, the price is $24 per person. We have to pay as a group, so please be prepared with cash to pay to the AvatarMeet planning team who will pay the group entrance charge.
We will depart the campsite in the same vehicles as we arrived in at 10:00 AM for the 1 hour drive to the caverns for our 11:00 AM tour. The round trip will unexpectedly take about 4 hours, and provides an opportunity to stop in the town of Luray for any supplies you might need to pick up, depending on the driver of you vehicle!
Should the weather forecast for Sunday look wet, we'll move Cosplay to Friday and the Luray Caverns tour to Sunday. It doesn't rain under ground.
More information about the Luray Caverns can be found at their website: http://luraycaverns.com

You can watch the entire 101 class from AvatarMeet 2012 here. You can of course also check out the myriad of resources over at LearnNavi.org.
