AvatarMeet 2017: Kelutral!
The
AvatarMeet planning team is able to announce that we have secured the
hotel accommodations for the meet up. Further information is given
below. Also, having received a number of submissions for the meet
up T-shirt design, we are now able to open them up for a clan vote.
Home Tree Accommodation
The results of the clan survey on the choice
between having a rented house and hotel were split 9 votes to 11 in
favour of a hotel. However, the planning team still took the
opportunity to explore rental house accommodation. In total, eight
hotels and two rental house complexes were explored. The team checked
out each location's website and reviews.
In the end the decision was made to go with the Comfort Inn Maingate hotel
near Kissimmee. There were a number of factors that lead to this
choice, including cost, location, facilities and convenience to local
amenities. We feel we have made the best balance we could and the
room rate will be less than it was last year, at $94 per night including
tax.
Each room has two queen beds, microwave and fridge. A hot
breakfast is also included as well as free wifi and parking. The
hotel is located less than two miles from Animal Kingdom and has
numerous eating establishments within walking distance as well as other
familiar stores.

Meet Up T-Shirt Design:
Irayo nìtxan to everyone who put forward
designs for the meet up t-shirt. Now it's down to you all to vote
for which design should adorn our clan shirts for 2017!
The first round will last a week. In the event of a tie or near-tie
there will be a run off for a few days, then the final round of voting
to decide fabric color. To vote, either go to Tree of Souls, the Avatarmeet Facebook group, or LearnNa'vi. Please only vote once per round (even if you have accounts across mutliple forums) this keeps the ballot fair.
Outline Program of Events:
The planning team are beginning to look at
the events program for what will be one of the longest meet up we have
had. Monday November 6th will be the arrival day. We intend
having two days at Animal Kingdom, a day at the Kennedy Space Center and
a day in a local park, which will include some habitat restoration work
to keep the theme of Avatar alive and real. That will leave a day
free for people to do what they would like to do. Finally, Sunday
will be grab your Ikran home day.
All the above is flexible and the planning team are open to
suggestions. So please do get in touch if you have any thoughts.
